elementor-size-default\">El origen del puente est\u00e1 intr\u00ednsecamente ligado a la Inundaci\u00f3n de 1888, la cat\u00e1strofe natural m\u00e1s devastadora en la historia de Le\u00f3n. En junio de ese a\u00f1o, el desbordamiento del R\u00edo de los G\u00f3mez arras\u00f3 con miles de viviendas y dej\u00f3 incomunicada a gran parte de la ciudad.\nEl Barrio del Coecillo, uno de los m\u00e1s antiguos y poblados, qued\u00f3 aislado del centro. Los se\u00f1ores Bar\u00f3n y Morales, destacados comerciantes y ciudadanos de la \u00e9poca, donaron los fondos necesarios para su realizaci\u00f3n. En su honor, el puente lleva sus apellidos.\nEl Arquitecto: La obra fue encargada al c\u00e9lebre ingeniero y arquitecto de origen ingl\u00e9s Luis Long, quien dej\u00f3 una huella imborrable en la est\u00e9tica de Le\u00f3n (tambi\u00e9n dise\u00f1\u00f3 la arquer\u00eda de la Catedral y el Malec\u00f3n).\nInauguraci\u00f3n: Se construy\u00f3 a finales del siglo XIX, termin\u00e1ndose
